Believe it or not, we often write small notes or letters to each other here at home. Yes, even if we see each other everyday. I guess it has been our ‘way of life’ to write letters. We have a little shoe box inside my drawer since I do not know when.
An idea struck yesterday, so I made this project. You can’t ignore that little light bulb on top of your head right?

I decided to make a letter box were we can all ‘drop’ our letters to each other. Just a simple one and I know you’ll be able to make one too. Before moving on, let me introduce you to Cabbie, who in my humble opinion, is the queen of altered projects. I just love her work. You should go check out her projects. Of course this project is a real simple one compared to Cabbie’s wonderful work ;)
OK, so on with the supplies we will be needing…
A Papemelroti Keepsake Box of Prayers for a Debutante, which you can get at any of their outlets at less than PhP200.00. Check out the Papemelroti website for gifts and decors. I love ‘em :) Especially the notepads which use recycled paper.

Inside the box are prayers printed on recycled paper. We won’t need this in this project. I kept the prayers in my wallet. And the box, by the way, is made of recycled pinewood. Got to love them recycled things.

You need matte photo paper, scissors, glue, ruler, pencil and everything else you see on the picture below :) See I told you this project was simple ;) And if you’re a little curious, I did this project on top of my computer table… I couldn’t find any other place to do this. My daughter won’t even let me use her desk! LOL.

And oh yes, we need some measurements, some sketches…

After making my layouts in Photoshop, I resized them to their exact sizes in Word. I haven’t figured out how to print directly from Photoshop with the exact size, so if you know how to, I’d really appreciate a mini tutorial in the comments area ;)
For this project, I used Shabby Miss Jenn’s Autumn Flea Market. Although the kit is for autumn, I just love the rich colors the papers have. Got to love her stuff ;)
OK, so here are what the printed pieces look like. You have to print a cover, papers to cover the sides of the box and of course the little note cards that you will use to write letters.

I covered the top part of the box with the 6 inches x 2.875 inches printed layout. I also added a quote related to letter writing. I love that quote :) For the measurements I used for the other printouts, you can drop me a comment if you want ‘em :)

I also placed a printed layout inside the box with another quote related to letter writing.

I used white glue to paste all the paper pieces to the box. And that brush, I borrowed it from my daughter LOL :) I can’t find any paint brush in my drawer… :D

After gluing all the printed pieces, we have to trim the papers so that it will fit exactly on the box. I’m not the best in measuring so that explains why we have to do this trimming thingy :)

And voila! A letter box for the whole family :) Pretty neat ei? And as you can see, my daughter can’t wait to make a letter for her Papa :)

Well, that’s about it… I enjoyed doing this project. It’s simple and easy. Of course, I couldn’t have completed this project without the help of my hubby and my daughter. Thanks Papa for taking some of the pictures here and for helping me trim the papers. I only have two hands… so yours helped ;P And to my daughter who lent me her water color brush hee hee.
Well, I hope you will also make this project :) I think it would make a great gift too. Have a fab day! Ta ta :)

Wow, it looks great!
I use Photoshop 7, but I think the basic premise is the same for other versions. What I do to resize for printing in Photoshop is to open a new document in the paper size I will use for printing, then drag the item I want to print onto the new document. Making sure the “show bounding box” option is selected, I click once on the corner square “handle” and at the top of the item to resize it.
The top toolbar should have something that looks like W: 100% (paperclip) L: 100%. I click on the paperclip so the proportions will remain the same, then in the width, type over the “100%” to make it, for example “4.75 in”.
After that I click Enter, and the resize is done! I do the same with the other elements and arrange it so I can maximize the printing of the items on one page. Hope this helps!
